SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The holiday spirit was felt across Springfield Monday evening, as residents gathered for an annual tree lighting.
The Park Edge Neighborhood Watch Association organizes this tree lighting each year. The tree illuminates the intersection of Texel Drive and Trafton Road in the city’s Forest Park Neighborhood.
The terrace there is dedicated in memory of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno’s parents, Clara and Alfonso.” This is all about the holidays—la Famiglia —coming together,” says Mayor Domenic Sarno. “It’s just a really heartwarming event. It gives back to all of our kids so they can have a smile on their faces.”
Neighborhood residents Patsy and Michelle Izzo, have been keeping this family-friendly event going for the community for the last decade.
